Welcome!
You’re in the right place. This is where you sign up for the 28 day Nourish Watercolour Challenge. Where it happens though is in the space you’ll create in your home, shed, workspace, caravan, or wherever you choose to paint for our 28 days together.
Guidelines for the challenge
Each day, from May 1 to May 28, you’ll receive an email with a prompt for inspiration and the same short, guided meditation to somatically tune into your breath and body around your chosen topic or, if you’re joining without a topic, you can reflect on the daily prompt and tune in to your body and breath however it feels organic for you. Listen to the guided meditation to take you to your watercolour expression for the day and then let it come through onto the paper!
Anything from abstract to symbolic to concrete is welcomed, there are no rules, just that you let your breath and body do the talking while your mind takes a back seat. We don’t want interpretations, stories, meaning making or logic getting in the way. It’s about expressing your internal landscape onto the paper, not your thoughts.
Once you’ve finished, let it dry, take a snap and share it with us on Instagram with the hashtag #nourishwatercolourchallenge if you’d like to, or just keep it somewhere safe so you can see the entire process throughout the 28 day journey at the end. It’s a short, 5 - 10 minute process each day which allows you to track the changes, unfolding, transformation, and growth as you go along.
If you’d like to put words onto this process, you can also journal after each session about what came through if that’s your cup of tea.
If you miss a day, don’t worry, you can either skip it or do 2 the next day, or add it on at the end, it’s totally up to you. You’re in control of your process :)
What you’ll need
Watercolour paints
Paint palette
Paintbrushes small to medium
Watercolour paper
A container of water, a glass or cup will work
Water spray bottle
Masking tape
A clipboard or other hard board to tape paper onto
A desk or table to paint on with plenty of light
Whatever will make your space feel good to you eg. a posey of flowers, cup of tea, candle etc
How to paint with Watercolours
Use masking tape to tape the edges of your watercolour paper to the clipboard
Spray the paper lightly and evenly with the water spray bottle
Squeeze your chosen paint into the palette, mix with water until watery or chosen texture
Apply to the paper using drips, strokes, flicks or whatever technique feels organic for you to create an authentic expression of your internal experience.
Once you are complete, allow your painting to dry horizontally to avoid dripping and remove the masking tape
Happy painting!
All my rainbows,
Danielle
